Day 115 of Project 365
115/365 - April 28, 2011
My safety buddies at work would be proud of me for the safety precautions I took making this shot. I put a large glass cutting board on my stove top grates. The black paper on top of that and a 11 x 14 piece of fame glass on top of that. The I got out the fire extinguisher and waited until I could remember the acronym for using it before I started: P A S S

Day 114 of Project 365
114/365 - April 27, 2011
This took two hours to set up and take down which did not make Phillip happy when he came home after 12 hours at work and could not get in the shower because it was full of tripods, cameras, flashes, light stands, fruit and me! I used a studio light to light it from behind. I took the cover off my big reflector and set it in front of the studio light for a back ground and to diffuse the light. I used the pop up flash on my camera and my Speedlite as a slave flash from the side.

I'm using my lens hood, the AF-ON button for focusing and the focal point selector button to select my finger knuckle to focus on. I REALLY need to find something to take a picture of!!!

Live View & Histograms
Employing a couple of the lessons learned the last couple of days, I took this picture basing my settings on my histogram readings and using the magnified Live View to bring it in to focus.

Just How I Feel!
After reviewing and processing several hundred pictures from our Saturday shooting, this one best described how I felt about the whole bunch. If there was ever any doubt of what a thousand or two dollars can do for your photography, try an L series lens for a half hour and all will be explained. How disgusting. I could (and in this case did) crop to the size of a postage stamp and be left with tack sharp/no noise images. I knew trying out that lens would do nothing but depress me. Big sigh.
