Day 28 of Project 365

28/365 - January 31, 2011

Here It Comes

Apparently we are ALL in for some very cold weather the next couple of days. For those of us on the Gulf coast, the first sign is the fog that started blanking the area as early as 5:00 this evening.

Day 27 of Project 365

27/365 - January 30, 2011
Clouds

After an ugly weekend, we had a couple of hours of beautiful blue skies and white fluffy clouds just before dark.

Day 26 of Project 365

26/365 - January 29, 2011

Attitude

I know it may be hard to tell from one picture but this is Al giving me attitude. He is a 60+ pound lap dog. When my lap is unavailable he gets irritated with me. He will get on the other couch with Phillip, prop up against him and cut his eyes over at me and just stare. He never turns his head all the way to me; it is always with his eye cut to the side. I think I’m supposed to feel bad.

Day 25 of Project 365

25/365 - January 28, 2011

Shot in the Dark

Literally! 7:30 at night and I have no pictures for today. No moon, no flares from a distant plant, just dark. I could not see anything through my view finder. I could not see anything using Live View. I put my camera on the tripod, turned up my ISO, turned off my auto focus and pointed it towards the only part of the sky with any light at all and pushed the button. The shutter had to stay open for 30 seconds to get this. The stars were a surprise.

Day 23 of Project 365

23/365 - January 26, 2011
The Bird

I'm sure it will not be long before the novelty of sunny days will wear off but right now they are a wonderful treat. Took my lunch and camera to Sylvan Beach again today and talked this guy is to posing for a shot.

Day 21 of Project 365

21/365
Tess-A-Roo
I left Phillip home with the puppies while I ran in to town. As I was walking out the door I told Phillip they had already been fed so not to believe Tess if she tried to tell him otherwise.  He looked over at Tess laying on her pillow and said she wasn't doing anything.

I was not to the end of the driveway when my phone started ringing. It was Phillip. He was calling to tell me Tess was standing with her front paws in her food bowl and staring at him. This is how she tells us it is time to feed her.

Day 19 of Project 365

19/365
Pepper The Moon

I seem to get stuck on certain subjects, don't I. Sorry for another moon picture, it was not the plan but I just as a snapped this a flock of bird flew by and I thought it was kind of cool... or at least different.

Day 17 of Project 365

17/365
There It Is!

Although I took several pictures tonight, none of them were any good. We were all getting ready for bed and I had to run out to my car for something. Standing at the door of my car, I looked up and there it was, my PAD!

Day 15 of Project 365

15/365
Duh!

I got home at 7:30 tonight with no idea what to take a picture of. I ended up in the backyard with a flashlight. I think if I had an assistant I might have had better luck but neither Al or Tess would hold the flashlight steady for me so I had to hold the flashlight and take the picture. Hmm, think a tripod might have come in handy?

Day 13 of Project 365

13/365
Come And Get It!

Today’s PAD was a hard choice to make. I had quite a variety to choose from. I hauled my camera around with me all day in it’s secret purse bag. First I wanted to take pictures of that little water fountain in Baybrook mall but I was embarrassed to do it. Phillip finally asked if I wanted him to just take the picture so I got over myself and took several. They came out pretty cool but now I want to go back and do it a little different. Then I left my comfort zone once more and pulled the camera out in Chili’s. I also made Phillip pull over on the side of the road and I tromped through a ditch to get some really bright red berries. Then just before turning on to our road we came by this site. It made both of us laugh and I had Phillip backing up for another set of pictures. I also tried to take some rain pictures but they all sucked. Doesn't matter. Good picture day!

Day 12 of Project 365

12/365
There is Still a Sun!

Aaaaaand we are back to the trees!

Day 11 of Project 365

11/365
Left Behind

I got the idea for this photo from Gayle and her Christmas ornament that did not get packed up. It reminded me of this wooden Santa that Phillip’s mom gave me. She rarely comes to my house without picking some thing from her house to bring me. A visit in 2009 brought Santa. Well I certainly was not going to climb up in the attic to put one little ornament away so he just sat around my house for the rest of the year and waited for Christmas. When Christmas 2009 came and went, I noticed he was still sitting in my living room. I figured I must have just gotten so used to seeing him that I didn’t notice him when I was packing stuff up. He waited around again for Christmas. Now Christmas 2010 has come and gone and look who is still here. I don’t know why he can’t seem to get packed!

I made several attempts to make this picture look more interesting. He is sitting on my fireplace in the dark with a towel covered flashlight pointed at him. I never got anything I really liked but never got anything else either so this is my picture of day.

Day 10 of Project 365

10/365
Gone to the Dogs
I doubt anyone doubts my enthusiasm for this project. I love the challenge and the surprise in finding a shot I had no idea was there until I took it but I knew today would finally come. Even though I carried my camera with me this morning when I left the house for work, just to make sure I didn’t miss any opportunities that might come my way, time, opportunity and inspiration was just not there for me today. I fed the animals in the dark tonight, getting mud (hopefully that was all) all over my pants. Then Phillip called about 30 minutes after I finally got back in the house and through with that awful chore for the night and said his brother David saw a cow that looked a lot like one of our out on the road. We did NOT discuss why I was being told this now, after I had already been out there and could have easily done a head count when I fed and while they were sitting their happy behinds in a restaurant and while it still was not raining. So, rubber boots back on, flashlight in hand, I go back out and track down where the cows were bedded down for the night and to a head count. Grrr. They were all there, thankfully.

I actually forgot for a little while about taking my picture for the day. Then I thought, OK, I have avoided taking pictures of the puppies so far because they are too easy of a target. I always take pictures of them. But I figured, today needs to be an easy day, so here you are. Big Al. If you happen to notice any distortion or blurriness, that will be Big Al’s nose print on my lens! Apparently he wanted to see what I was looking at through the other end.

Day 8 of Project 365

8/365
Daylight!

I actually made it home with some daylight left today. I was so excited because I could go outside and take some pictures with some day light. But, no, that was too good to be true. First thing as I drive up to the house, I see a trash can is knocked over and trash is everywhere, all the way to the fence line. But I’m still not discouraged. I run inside and change (I still have to feed the cows and horses), put on my rubber boots, leather gloves and grab my camera bag. Quick pick up and then pictures! Right? No. I hear a small creature screaming its little head off. I tracked it by the sound and found a one day old baby goat in the next pasture and mom is no where around. She was so hungry and wanted mom so bad when she saw me she ran down the fence line to me… AND THE DOGS. She is sticking her head through the fence trying to get to us and I’m chasing off the dogs and trying to get the baby over the fence. Finally get her over the fence, call the neighbor (thank goodness she was home) and had to hold the baby away from the dogs until she got there.

So in the end I had about 5 minutes to get my pic of the day and still not have to feed in the dark. Oh well, I still have 357 more chances.

Yooooou liiight up my life.....

My first monopod shot.

Day 3 of Project 365

3/365 - January 6, 2011

Back to Reality!
After 19 consecutive days off work, it was so hard to go back. Ooooh me.

And before my photographer friends scoff at my unimaginative, not to mention ‘point & shoot’ photograph, consider that there is nothing that represented my day more than what you are looking at here. But in keeping in the spirit of Project 365, I did not simply whip out my throw-down camera (the point and shoot that lives in my purse at all times) and snap a shot of my monitor.

First I turned the flash off and adjusted the (newly discovered) Exposure Compensation. OK, so that’s all well and good but now my shutter speed was too slow for a sharp image. What to do? I did not have a spare tripod in my office so I looked around for something to use as one. I found that the camera fit nicely on the top edge of the hard plastic backing of my office chair and if I pressed it down hard against the plastic, I could keep the camera steady. So, ladies, I think this qualifies for a Picture of the Day.
