Day 8 of Project 365

8/365
Daylight!

I actually made it home with some daylight left today. I was so excited because I could go outside and take some pictures with some day light. But, no, that was too good to be true. First thing as I drive up to the house, I see a trash can is knocked over and trash is everywhere, all the way to the fence line. But I’m still not discouraged. I run inside and change (I still have to feed the cows and horses), put on my rubber boots, leather gloves and grab my camera bag. Quick pick up and then pictures! Right? No. I hear a small creature screaming its little head off. I tracked it by the sound and found a one day old baby goat in the next pasture and mom is no where around. She was so hungry and wanted mom so bad when she saw me she ran down the fence line to me… AND THE DOGS. She is sticking her head through the fence trying to get to us and I’m chasing off the dogs and trying to get the baby over the fence. Finally get her over the fence, call the neighbor (thank goodness she was home) and had to hold the baby away from the dogs until she got there.

So in the end I had about 5 minutes to get my pic of the day and still not have to feed in the dark. Oh well, I still have 357 more chances.

  1. Baby goat or sunset ... In this case you could have had both and I would have been so excited to see the baby goat! What a rescuer and photographer today!

  2. I wanted to take a picture of the baby but I could not put her down. The dogs were going nuts and she was sucking on my neck and fingers then screaming because it was not helping. She was so hungry. The neighbor called when she got her back home as said she went right to mom and had dinner and was happy. This was mom's first time to have twins and apparently she didn't know quit what to do.

  3. Well I finally figured out how to post a comment! Lisa - your picture is awesome! I work close to home & I still don't get home until after dark. I think you still need to get a picture of the baby goat - since now you are mommy #2...
